Taylor Swift: Person of the Year 2023

The magazine acknowledged Taylor Swift‘s enduring popularity over the years, emphasizing that, at 33, she has achieved an unprecedented fusion of art and commerce, unleashing a historic force. Time selected Swift as a notable figure for her ability to inspire hope globally during challenging times.

Describing Swift’s impact, Time stated, “No one else on the planet today can move so many people so well,” attributing her success not merely to cosmic alignments but also to her exceptional skill and power. In an interview with the magazine, Swift expressed profound happiness and pride, declaring this as her most creatively fulfilled and liberated period.

Addressing her public acknowledgment of her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, Swift mentioned their connection sparked after Kelce wore a friendship bracelet on his podcast. She downplayed her presence at NFL games, stating she’s there to support Travis without being aware of potential reactions.

Swift’s remarkable year included the immensely successful “Eras Tour,” grossing about $2.2 billion in North American ticket sales alone, making it StubHub’s biggest tour in its history. The tour extended its influence beyond arenas, with Swift’s concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” setting a record as the highest-grossing concert film domestically for an opening weekend, earning approximately $96 million.

Notably, Swift continued her dominance on Spotify, breaking her own record as the most-streamed artist in a single day, while “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” claimed the title of Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day for the year.
